Classification This poster was designed by Adrien Maeght, using as subject the zinc etching entitled Portrait of Pierre Reverdy. This engraving, measuring 23.2 x 15.9 cm., was produced by Picasso in 1922 in Paris and is now in the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA), New York. It belongs to the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Foundation.
Reproductions There have been four printings of this poster, in two of which the frames around the engraving and bearing the text are in burgundy. In the other two, the frames are green. Also, the burgundy colour print runs can be distinguished from one another by the format, as can the green ones. The two burgundy editions were printed for the exhibition held from March 23 to May 25,1970, at the Fondation Maeght in Saint-Paul. The poster presented here corresponds to the smaller format of this edition. The green coloured print runs were produced later and refer to the exhibition held at the Musée d’Art Moderne in Paris.
