Royal Flush- I love the color, purple. It is bold and regal. It is associated with royalty. Not to mention the poker card game ultimate hand. The belongs in Las Vegas.
Fuchsial Fire- The rising flames are of the color fuchsia, which I think are bold and beautiful. It also contains yellow and blue, colors of the fire. Fuchsia was introduced as a dye and was renamed magenta to celebrate the French victory,The Battle of Magenta, so fire is just part of war. There’s no such word as ” fuchsial,” but I loved the sound of it paired with fire.
Bachata- this music/dance originated in the Dominican Republic. I saw the two central figures as dancers. This dance is popular around the word is associated with sensuality, called by some as the most sexual dance. It is referred to as ‘the mating call, ” or “dirty dancing. “
Sapphire Black- this is named for the two most dominant colors in the painting. Usually, it’s sapphire blue, but there’s nothing usual about me, so I paired it with black. I loved the painting and the name, as they both out of the ordinary.
Red Eye-in the right upper portion, you see prominent, rounded red figures. I saw them as glaring eyes. Some many relate to taking overnight flights, so it has real-world connotations which may be very applicable to certain people and their lifestyles. I like to consider everyday occurrences, so people can relate to the piece in some manner. Red Eye was the most obvious title to me.
Peace 2: Be the face of peace. You told me to emphasize the face you see. It reminds us to choose peaceful solutions, if possible and that we as individuals can make a positive difference. I wanted this to be bold , statement piece, fiery, if you will. I’ve never seen this ubiquitous sign done in fire, so I wanted it to be different take on a familiar symbol known around the world.
Moonlight Mud Pie-to me, this painting contains dark, rich, earthly tones as well as a lighter component. I walked past the painting several times, and that name just kept hitting me. I liked the sound of it. I like the romance of moonlight and the kid in me just thought of making mud pies at night. It’s one of those strange names that had both meaning and a whimsical nature about it. It is meant to lift your spirits.
