Classification Original poster. It was designed by Picasso in collaboration with Henri Deschamps. Picasso supplied picture 25 of the series, Pigeons at ‘La Californie’, painted on September 12, 1957, simultaneously with the series on Velazquez’s Las Meninas. Deschamps, with Picasso’s agreement, produced the lithograph on which the poster was based. The manuscript text was done by Picasso. The oil painting measures 100 x 80 cm. and is in the Museu Picasso, Barcelona.
Reproductions The motif of picture 25 of the Pigeons at ‘La Californie’ series has been used twice. Once for this poster when it was used to promote the Côte d’Azur, and carried the text, “Côte d’Azur”. It was used again as propaganda for Cannes and carried the text “Cannes A.M.”
