Hea-Jae Jou was born in 1951 in Seoul, Korea, where he now resides. Passionate about art from the time he was young, his paintings focus on landscapes and possess a very comfortable feeling, with a variety of powerful colors. His newer paintings analyze the shapes of landscapes, taking the natural images and recreating them with bright colors and shapes. Jou wants us to feel his world and reality through these paintings.

Jou has participated in many group and solo exhibitions for years, mainly in Asia. He was responsible for coordinating exchange shows between artists from South Korea and China, where communism was still a huge obstacle to artistic expression. He has traveled through Europe, Japan and China to sketch and paint new vistas
