Théodore Duret (20 January 1838 in Saintes – 16 January 1927 in Paris) was a French journalist, author and art critic. He was one of the first advocates of impressionism, and many of his writings are devoted to explaining to the 19th-century public how the new trends in painting were a continuation of traditions in western painting.
